Concerned that you were blocked on Facebook by someone? There are specific indicators to be aware of.
There are several methods to find out whether someone has blocked your account on Facebook, even though the social media site doesn’t let you know when it happens. Check if someone has blocked you on Facebook using these strategies.
Ask a Mutual Friend to Check if Their Profile Is Still Up
Since you need to ascertain whether the person in issue has deleted or deactivated their Facebook account instead of blocking you, this is the easiest method to find out if someone has blocked you on Facebook.
It’s tempting to assume that someone who has completely deleted their Facebook profile has blocked you because these things can appear a lot identical.
Thus, how can you determine whether someone has blocked you instead of having their account deactivated? Consult a friend you both have. If the person you are concerned about blocking you has a mutual contact, ask them to discreetly see if the individual’s profile is still up to date.
If their profile is deleted, they have most likely given up on Facebook and haven’t blocked you. They might have blocked you if they still have an active account. We will return to these possibilities as there are more ways to tell.
Here are some other steps you can take to see if Facebook has blocked you.
Use a Mutual Friend’s Profile to Find Out Who Blocked You on Facebook
Navigate to the profile of a person you both know, or that of the person who may have blocked you. When you select See All, a short list of their friends will appear. The number of contacts you have in common should be displayed.
You can either put into the “Search Friends” field or navigate through their contacts.
You can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they haven’t blocked you if you can see their name and profile picture. There might be another explanation for their disappearance if you are unable to see them. It’s possible that they deleted their entire account.
Try to Tag Someone Who Might’ve Blocked You
Typically, to tag a buddy in a meme or post, just type their name and select the appropriate profile link. When they log in again, they’ll notice it and receive a notification. However, you won’t be able to tag them in any posts if they’ve blocked you.
It’s also important to ascertain if you’ve been unfriended or blocked. The other person’s privacy settings determine whether you can tag someone on Facebook who unfriended you. You cannot tag someone if they are not a member of the private group. This also depends on the settings of a group you may be a part of.
Use Facebook Search to Check Who Has Blocked You
Use Facebook to find your friend. You may access the search bar on the top-left corner of the website by just logging in. In a similar vein, the search bar appears at the top of your feed while using the Facebook app to find out who has blocked you.
You will see a list of pages and profiles. Toggle the listing of results by selecting People. The profile of that individual won’t appear in this setting if you’ve been blocked. Even if they have blocked you, there’s a chance you will see them if you search All, but you won’t be able to click on it most likely.
If they’ve just unfriended you, you may be able to see some of their profile, depending on their privacy settings. On the other hand, they won’t show up at all if they have erased their Facebook account.
While searching, you may still come across images of the individual in issue; but, if they have disabled your account, any tags will become inactive links.
Check Previous Facebook Messages
This approach is predicated on your prior communication with the individual, which is problematic when dealing with relative strangers. If you have blocked anyone from posting on your Facebook timeline, try to recall anything this contact has posted on your page or the profile of a mutual friend. This could be a happy birthday, a holiday greeting, or anything else unrelated.
If you’ve been blocked, such messages usually go away entirely. Their likes could vanish too. Rarely, the messages will still be visible even after the user’s profile picture is hidden.
Look on Facebook Messenger for Someone Who Might’ve Blocked You
You can also verify if this is the same individual you interacted with before via Facebook Messenger.
Select “See All in Messenger” from the drop-down option in the Messenger section. Get access to the dialogue you had with the person. You also won’t be able to click on their name to view their profile if you’ve been blocked.
Additionally, you won’t be able to communicate them: a message stating, “This person is not contactable on Messenger,” will appear in place of the text box.
It should be noted that, although deletion differs from deactivation, in most circumstances the person’s name won’t show up at all if they have deleted their account. “Facebook User” will appear in their Messenger thread if they have deleted their account. Though it’s possible that they use Messenger even if they aren’t on Facebook, at least you can still communicate with them if you can still reach them here.
Try to Invite Them to Events
Facebook events are created by people to plan get-togethers, such as dinners, birthday parties, and Christmas celebrations. However, you won’t be able to invite that person if you’ve been blocked.
Select Private Event from the Events > Create Event menu. You will need to tag some individuals in order to invite them after providing their details. Alternatively, navigate to an event that has already been made by someone else and click the ellipsis at the bottom right of the event to invite friends as well, or select Invite Friends under the “Go with friends” portion of the page.
If the individual isn’t there, it means they’ve either unfriended you, blocked you, or stopped using Facebook altogether. In a similar vein, you are unable to invite people who have blocked you to like or join pages.
Try to Block Someone Who May Have Blocked You
You can determine whether someone has deactivated their Facebook account in addition to finding out if you can block them. It’s kind of like tagging, except you can only tag and follow users who aren’t blocked. You can only block those who haven’t blocked you as a result.
To access Facebook through a browser, sign in and use the down arrow located in the upper-right corner of your feed. Navigate to Settings & privacy > Settings > Blocking, then select Block users and type a name. You can choose which profiles to block after selecting the “Block” option. A list of profiles will then display.
If their name isn’t there, it means they’ve blocked you first or they’ve either deleted or cancelled their account.
If you’re using the Facebook app, navigate to the profile of your contact, select Profile settings by clicking the ellipsis, and then try selecting Block. In any case, they have deactivated their Facebook account if you are unable to access their profile.
This individual can also be blocked on Facebook Messenger. Facebook is only providing you with the ability to prevent somebody from contacting you through Messenger; doing so does not imply that they haven’t blocked you on the social media platform.
To find out for sure if you’ve been blocked, you have to ask the individual personally. If you are cautious, you might also inquire with a mutual acquaintance to find out. At the very least, a common friend can let you know if your contact’s profile has been removed or disabled.
You could experience frustration and anger on Facebook if you discover that you have been blocked by someone, especially if you believe you have done nothing wrong. However, it’s usually not something to be concerned about. It can be a minor issue, such as a straightforward miscommunication.
