Make use of this easy shortcut to maintain your iPhone in low power mode even when it is fully charged.
Once your iPhone reaches 80 percent charge, it will automatically switch out of Low Power Mode. Thus, what steps should you take to ensure that your iPhone is always in low power mode? A workaround is the Apple Shortcuts app.
Activate Low Power Mode Permanently Using Shortcuts
An iPhone’s built-in programme called Shortcuts makes a number of chores easier to complete. It can be used to make a shortcut that will enable you to always use your iPhone in low power mode. This is what you must do:
1. To add a new shortcut, launch the Shortcuts app, select the Shortcuts tab, then tap the addition (+) symbol in the upper-right corner.
2. Click Add Action, then look up Set Low Power Mode. To include the action in your shortcut, select it.
3. Verify that the action for Low Power Mode is turned on.
4. To rename the shortcut, tap the Set Low Power Mode wording at the top and choose Rename.
5. To save your edits, tap Done in the upper-right corner.
Your iPhone shortcut will appear on the Shortcuts tab within the Shortcuts app once you’ve created it.
When you launch the shortcut by tapping on it, your iPhone will enter a permanent Low Power Mode. This implies that when the battery reaches 80% during charging, Low Power Mode will remain activated. Furthermore, even after you restart it, your iPhone will continue to operate in Low Power Mode.
On your iPhone, you may still off Low Power Mode from the Control Centre if necessary. Additionally, you can locate the shortcut in the Shortcuts app, long-press it, and select Delete from the context menu if you ever want to remove it. When prompted for confirmation, click Delete Shortcut.
There are some situations in which you might want to put your iPhone in Low Power Mode all the time, even if it disables a lot of functionality and background apps. For example, while you’re travelling and you don’t know if you’ll have time to charge your iPhone.
Similar to this, keeping your iPhone in low power mode all the time will help you save data when you’re using data roaming in another country. This is because it will stop your iPhone’s apps from updating in the background, which will lower the amount of data you use.
Should You Leave Low Power Mode on Permanently?
Unless you require your background apps to refresh regularly, Low Power Mode has no effect on your device. For instance, if you have Low Power Mode enabled, you won’t receive new email notifications, but you can still access your inbox by launching the Mail app.
We do not advise leaving Low Power Mode on all the time if you want to take full use of all the capabilities your iPhone has to offer. Better endurance is what you’ll get if you leave it on, though, if battery life is your main issue.
